Invitations:

You can use your baby footprint stamp on your invitations, or even on the back of the envelope. Whether you want to make your own or use a kit this is a fun idea, and will set the mood for your event.

Streamers:

Dress up plain streamers with a baby footprint stamp. Just get a light colored streamer, and then use a contrasting or complimentary color for your stamp. You can do them close together or far apart, whatever you think looks best.

This would be another great opportunity to add a sentiment for the person who will be wearing it. You can make these gifts very personal and unique. Again, remember to use a dry iron over your ink to set it in.

The ideas for using a baby footprint stamp are many and if you let loose and let the ideas flow you will come up with many more ideas of your own. I hope we’ve given you a good start.

Being a first time parent, and my mom being a first time grandma, we went NUTS.  We ended up with announcements and tons of pictures left over, and now they just sit in the envelope they came in on a bookshelf in my house.

If I had known any better, I probably would have skipped all the extras and just gone with a basic picture package.  I wish I had taken the time to make personalized baby footprint announcements.  It would have been more personal, expressed our style, and been a little more memorable.

If I had done that what I would have done was get some paper ~ cute paper from the craft store, with a decorative but muted pattern.  Next I would have taken the extra baby footprint stamp we got when they stamped her foot at the hospital and  scanned it into the computer.

Once the baby footprint stamp was scanned into the computer I would use some imaging software to put the information of her birth around the footprint.  It would be easy enough from there to just print them all out on the decorative paper.

This idea can be played with in any number of ways. You could use markers on the baby footprint stamp and take the page and the paper to your local copy store and just copy it onto the paper.  Instead of using the footprint stamp, you could use one of the first pictures of the baby.  You could even use both if it sounds good to you.

Making decorative and special announcements is easy and can be quick to do. They will stand out amongst the sea of hospital bought announcements on everyone’s refrigerator.  If you plan to make your own announcements it’s best to know that ahead of time and have an idea of what you are going to do, especially if you are a first time mom.  It can be very exciting going through all the pictures of your newborn, and even though it’s a low pressure sale, who can say no to pictures of their new baby?

Let’s start with some of the easiest ideas.

You just have to do the stamping, and some have a spot for pictures, so you’ll add the picture and then fill them out. Print out premade invitation paper. You can find tons of different invitations with baby footprints on them online. Many of these sites are made so you can simply print them out on your own paper. You can jazz these up by using fun and interesting paper you get at the craft store. After you print them all you need to do is fill in the information.

For the craftier among you there are options as well. You can get a baby footprint rubber stamp, and other baby related stamps or add ons. (these are easy to find at your local scrapbooking or craft store). Find some cute paper, either colored or with a muted pattern, and begin to add your design.

You may want to have one baby footprint or you could even have a few of them so it looks like the footprints are walking, it’s really up to you. Let loose, get creative and have fun.

If you wanted to do the entire invitation in the shape of a baby footprint you can find a template in a magazine ~ just cut out a baby foot from an advertisement. Once you have the foot you want to use, simply draw around it on a piece of heavy duty poster board. This will serve as your template. Then choose the paper you want to use for your invitations and cut around your template footprint. You can embellish these invitations with stickers, or even just sparkly pens. Just remember, a little goes a long way.

This kit is gorgeous and if you are a jounaler, this will be a great project for you.  I had planned to have a journal just for the first year of motherhood, alas, mother hood got in the way, but, this kit would have been perfect. You are provided with a journal.  The cover includes two framed areas, one for a picture of your baby, and the other for a baby footprint stamp.  It’s a gorgeous journal and one I would look forward to writing in.

As you can see there are many different types of baby footprint stamp kits.  What’s nice about getting a kit is it is all in one place and easy to do.  There’s no stopping you from taking any of these ideas and doing them on your own without a kit. I’m sure you can find everything you need at a local craft store.

There are a few different ways you can make your own stamped wrapping paper. You can buy rolls of white paper at the office supply or craft store. You can also get creative and environmental and reuse some things you already have around. Paper grocery bags are great for some things. If your gift is smaller you can also use small paper lunch bags.

Next is thinking about which stamp you will use. You can make a simple potato stamp by lightly dipping your baby’s foot in baby footprint ink and then placing it either on paper or directly on the potato. If you put the footprint on paper you will then have to put the paper on the potato to cut out the stamp. You will then carve away the outside of the footprint on the potato to make the stamp.

Once you choose the stamp you are going to use, you need to decide the color scheme for you paper. You can choose any color scheme you like. The sky is the limit. Color options have only gotten bigger and bigger since scrapbooking has gotten more popular.

You can add the footprints to the paper in a pattern or use a more abstract layout. You may want to add some interest in the background, or some added color splash.
